Consultation #9  Fen Ditton crossroads - what do you think?    (17 June, 2014)

This Consultation is: Closed

Fen Ditton crossroads – what do you think?

Traffic issues are always high on the list of concerns in the village.  The problem of turning out on to the B1047 at the crossroads was brought up recently at a Parish Council meeting and traffic lights were suggested.  We believe, as with most changes, there are pros and cons.  In this case one issue would be the high cost, maybe in the region of £80,000.

Other options come to mind: changing the priority so that the B1047 traffic has to stop or a mini roundabout and there are, no doubt, others.

We would like to hear your views and ideas on these or other options.  Most change has negative aspects as well as positive ones, in this case maybe at quiet times of the day and we would like to hear those as well.

The Highway Authority for this road is the County Council and they will decide what happens, if anything.  However we, the Parish Council, do have the opportunity to influence the process from time to time.  For this reason we would like to receive as many ideas as possible from villagers.

For interest, extract from Conservation area review:

10.2 The junction of the four main roads running through the village (Ditton Lane, High Ditch Road, High Street and Horningsea Road) is jumble of signs, bollards and street crossing paraphernalia. By rationalising the street clutter, the townscape of this area could be significantly improved.
