Recreation Ground
The Fen Ditton Recreation Ground is located on Church Street. There is a pavilion, a cricket pitch, several football pitches, a basketball court and a children's playground, plus plenty of grassland for playing or simply lounging about in the sun.
Pedestrian access is at two points. There is level access next to the cemetary entrance, from the higher part of Church Street. Following the road further down the hill, there's.a set of stairs just past the riverside Plough Public House.
Apart from its sporting and leisure uses, the "Rec", as it's known locally, also hosts annual fireworks, occasional Ditton Day festivals, and provides car parking (by arrangement) for special events like the Dragon Boat Race. The pavilion is available for hire: contact the Parish Clerk for more details.
Although the Parish Council is responsible for maintenance of the lawns and hedges, use and maintenance of the Rec is the responsibility of the Fen Ditton Recreation Ground Trust. The Trust has five Trustees. Two are Parish Council nominees (currently Jon Green and Charles Beeson-Jones (the Trust's Chairman), two are villagers (Ian Winchester and Dee Butler), and the Vicar (the Rev. Michael Bowers) completes the roster. The Trust's Clerk, Margaret Starkie, is also the Parish Clark.
