Footpath diversions on Horningsea Road during October    4 October, 2018

The county council's Senior Project Officer for the works currently being done along Horningsea Road and Ditton Lane has updated the Parish Council on how they will affect the footpaths this month:

  • Week of 1 Oct: works continue on west side of Horningsea Road opposite the primary school. The path will be put back to a usable standard (binder course). Final surfacing will follow on at a later date.
  • Week of 8 Oct: works begin on east side of Horningsea Road in the section between the primary school and the (soon-to-be installed) Toucan crossing north of the school. This section of footpath will be closed during these works so parents and children coming from Horningsea will need to carry on to the Pelican crossing at the High Street crossroads to cross safely to the east side and proceed back up the east side to access the school. Signage will be in place to direct users along this route. The path will be put back to a usable standard (binder course). Final surfacing will follow on at a later date.
  • Week of 22 Oct (half term): works will take place outside the school. The layby will be closed. Access to the school will be maintained for contractors working on the school site.
  • From the week beginning 29 Oct: works will continue southwards on the east side of Horningsea Road. As the path on this side (south of the school) will be closed, parents and children approaching the school from the south will have to proceed on the west side path and use a temporary controlled crossing located near the school which will operate 24/7 unless the works are close by and the crossing signals conflict with the temporary lights. However, the temporary crossing will always be in operation during morning and afternoon school times.
