Remembrance Sunday arrangements    5 November, 2020

Owing to the new lockdown, the Remembrance Sunday service for the parishes of Fen Ditton, Horningsea and Teversham will be held via Zoom at 10.30 am. There will also be a short Act of Remembrance at the Fen Ditton War Memorial at 10.50 am. The names of the fallen will be read out, and wreaths will be laid.

10.55 am         Act of Remembrance
11.00 am         Two Minutes Silence
11.02 am         Laying of Wreaths and Prayer of Commemoration
11.04 pm         The National Anthem (first verse)
11.05 am         Blessing

Government guidelines emphasize that formal involvement in the ceremony this year should be ‘focussed on those wishing to lay wreaths’, parish councillors, local faith leaders, and members or veterans of the armed forces and/or their representatives.

Communities are being urged to keep the size of these gatherings small. Please consider marking the occasion by joining the Zoom service, or by keeping the two minutes silence on your front doorstep.

If you do intend to come, please carefully note and observe these guidelines:

Where members of the public do attend, they must only attend the event with their own household or those in their support bubble, or one other person and observe social distancing rules [2 metres between attendees].

The parish church will be open for individual prayer for an hour before and after the Act of Remembrance (10 am till 12 noon) for those who want to make use of that opportunity.

Charles Jones has researched all the Fen Ditton men who died in WW2 and would like to hear from anyone who knew them or their families, or wants to learn more about them. Contact Charles at charles.jones@fenditton-pc.org.uk.
