News  »  Be alert for 'banking' fraud

Sadly there have been local reports of a convincing scam recently. People are being called by bogus fraud officers who try to con them into getting and sharing an activation code to their account so they can 'check some payments that appear to be fraudulent'. Doing this would give the fraudsters access to the money in your account so if this happens to you, just say that you will put down the phone and call them back on the bank's official number which you have, and they will likely hang up straight away.

Remember that banks and the real police or fraud department will never call you and ask you to reveal information about your account.
