Have your say on the future of the county's household recycling service    28 August, 2014

Cambridgeshire County Council is reviewing its Household Recycling Service, with a view to making savings in costs, and are encouraging residents to complete an online questionnaire. This focuses on people’s current use of the service and their thoughts on the options being considered, which include

  • closing sites
  • transferring them to charitable or voluntary organisations
  • reduction in hours and days of operation across all sites
  • charging for certain DIY waste streams (e.g. hardcore and plasterboard)
  • limiting the use of sites to larger vehicles to deter trade waste use.

The online consultation will run alongside surveys being undertaken at all nine household recycling centres within Cambridgeshire.

Cambridgeshire County Council’s Highways and Community Infrastructure Committee will be assessing the feedback and making a decision in the autumn.
